.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 340 AM CDT Sat Jun 28 2025
Through late next week:
The upper ridge currently responsible for our weather pattern will
flatten this weekend as an upper trough digs in its wake early next
week. The aforementioned trough will advance a surface front towards
the region, though it is expected to stall north of the area.
Moisture pooling ahead of the frontal zone with PWAT in excess of 2
inches will promote higher dewpoints early next week. While this
looks to result in heat indices in the triple digits and possibly
nearing the 105 heat threshold, daily storm chances limit confidence
on greater heat at this time. Like previously, can`t rule out
marginally severe storms each afternoon. The deep moisture could
increase the potential for at least isolated heavy downpours which
could lead to localized flooding early next week.
The amplifying trough over the NE CONUS will allow the upper ridge
to build over Texas, establishing NW flow over our region. Subtle
disturbances on the eastern flank embedded in the NW flow will keep
the chance for storms, again possibly marginally severe, into mid to
late next week.
Attention then turns to heat again for the holiday weekend as the
ridge over Texas propagates and builds over the region. Early
guidance is showing this around 594 dam. +850 temp anomalies suggest
above normal temperatures, climbing to the mid 90s and possibly some
upper 90s. This along with mid 70s dewpoints results in heat indices
105-110 once again. Heat headlines will likely eventually be needed
again later next week./SAS/

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1213 AM CDT Sat Jun 28 2025
Brief patchy fog will be possible through around daybreak, though
confidence is not high enough to prevail at most TAF sites. Mainly
afternoon and early evening TS will be possible again, with brief
categorical reductions and gusty wind possible. Otherwise, VFR
conditions will prevail through the balance of the TAF period.
